We love supporting local businesses every chance we can. And especially when the business is all about making beautiful AND delicious craft cheese and dessert boards, we know it’s not only right but necessary to share with everyone else!
So when Lindsay Anvik and Rob Hendricks, the Babe and the Butcher, behind Charlotte’s favorite charcuterie board business, Babe and Butcher, said yes to this feature, we were thrilled!
After launching in Fall 2019, the duo’s craft food boards have become a party staple all across the Charlotte-metro area – helping celebrate all types of occasions. With their skillful eyes, cubes of cheese, cuts of meats, and delicious seasonal fruit transform into works of art almost too pretty to eat! Hey, we said almost…
And since it’s always fun to get to know the makers behind the local businesses that call Charlotte home, we asked Lindsay some questions about B&B and how it all started. Keep reading for more!
Rob is from New Jersey and I am from New York. He has a background in food and restaurants and I have a background in marketing and public relations. Our families told us that our boards were something special. But your family always tells you that you’re the best. It wasn’t until we hosted a charity event that we saw our boards appeal to the masses. We started it and thought it would be a side hustle. A month later I had to buy a bigger car to take all the orders.
I love being a small part of people celebrating things. Even if it is a girl’s night, that’s a celebration of friendship. That is an honor in itself, to be included in a memory.
Oh…this is hard. For anything sweet, of course, The Batchmaker. For dinner, Kindred.
We are debuting new boards very soon, including a bloody mary board and an Italian themed board.
We’re always grateful to have the opportunity to connect with local business owners to help spread the great word about the awesome things they’re up to. If you have a small business you’d like for us to feature, let us know in the comments below.
Oh, and P.S. – In the time since we corresponded with Lindsay, the most exciting news came out: Babe and Butcher is opening a brick-and-mortar location in Camp North End later this year. Soon you’ll be able to pick-up one of these boards any day of the week! Congratulations Lindsay, Rob, and the entire Babe and Butcher team!
